Estee Hernández, PhD
ACADEMIC WRITING COACH & EDITOR
Dr. Estee Hernández has over 15 years of experience working in higher education, across diverse institutional types, and in functional areas like teaching and learning, scholarship and recognition programs, leadership development, service learning, residence life, diversity and inclusion, and TRIO programs. Most recently, she was an assistant professor in the higher education leadership program at National Louis University, where she most enjoyed supporting practitioner–scholars through their dissertation research!
Estee earned her PhD in Higher Education at Florida State University. Through her research, she aims to uncover the ways systems of oppression (e.g., racism, sexism) are deeply embedded in higher education policy and practices. Estee earned her MSEd in higher education and student affairs and her BA in French at Baylor University. She is a proud first-generation high school graduate, college graduate, and doctor. An English language learner, she leans heavily into cultural forms of knowledge, especially those cultivated in the home and with her family.
Outside of academia, Estee is a facilitator with LeaderShape, an organization that engages in transformational leadership experiences with and for college students and professionals. She is a proud member of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc., and volunteers on the national board. Estee loves following college sports, going on walks with her dog, RiRi, cuddling with her cats, Baxter and Frida, and road trips with her partner, Jeremiah.
