Q: How long does the editing process take?

A: The editing process can take a few days to several weeks or months, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. We work with each client to determine a project timeline that incorporates each step of the editing process and your deadlines. We advise graduate and doctoral students to start the editing process as soon as possible, either while writing the thesis or dissertation proposal or shortly thereafter.

Q: What does the editing process include?

A: Our editorial team reads and reviews all documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency in formatting, and alignment with style guidelines; suggests alternative words or phrases and provides guidance on sentence structure and how to better organize ideas; overviews areas that need attention and improvement; and tracks all edits and changes for the client to review and accept.

Q: What does the editing process not include?

A: We strive to uphold the highest ethical standards in our work. We do not write content, nor do we change content outside of editing for mechanical or formatting errors. We also do not assess the validity of sources or check for or accept responsibility for plagiarism. We do our best to ensure precise and thorough editing and formatting, but the success of each project rests solely with the author.

Q: Will my project be perfect at the end of the editing process?

A: Our editorial team approaches each project with an exceptional level of care and a meticulous eye for detail. The client and editor work together to set a timeline, discuss goals and expectations, and complete each step of the process. The quality of the final product is dependent on the timeline, the length and the complexity of the project, and the level of editing required.

Q: What is the typical cost of the editing process?

A: Cost depends on a wide range of factors, including the length of the paper, the technical complexity of the project, and the level of editing and formatting needed on mechanics and APA style. Editing for a full dissertation typically takes between 25 and 50 hours, which equates to $1,250.00 to $2,500.00. Please let us know if cost is a concern for you during the consultation.
